Home>>>Special Features>>> Trango Tower

Originally proposed in the mid-1990s to complement the Denver Pavillions retail and entertainment center in downtown Denver, Trango Tower is slated to become the tallest skyscraper in North America outside of New York City and Chicago. The Trango Tower, named after a sheer vertical rock formation in the upper reaches of Pakistan, would become a new symbol for Denver. Rising at a height of possibly over 1,050 feet, Trango Tower will make Denver the "third tallest city" in North America, allowing the Mile High City to surpass Houston's Chase Tower, Los Angeles' Library Tower and Atlanta's Bank of America Center to achieve for Denver a height only outdone by New York and Chicago.

To be located on the block bounded by 16th/15th Streets, and Welton/Glenarm Streets, Trango Tower is the ambitious vision of Denver developer W. Scott Moore, a 5th-generation Coloradoan whose ancestors were critical in the founding and shaping of Denver. The land under which the project will rise has been owned by Moore's family for generations, and now the developer is prepared to make a bold statement for Denver's skyline and give Denver a shining new symbol to lead this great metropolis into the 21st century.

The tower's stunning architectural form is sure to work untold wonders for improving Denver's downtown skyline. The simple fact of the matter is that, besides perhaps Daniel Libeskind's planned expansion for the Denver Art Museum, Denver has never been promised anything as bold or as abstract as the design for Trango Tower. The tower's angled roofline and sloping walls will offer a new profile on the Denver skyline, recharing the Denver skyline with a new excitement and energy that will empower this city to compete in the next century.

Trango Tower will be a mixed-use tower, with space dedicated to residential, commercial and hotel usage. The tower's close proximity to the expanded Colorado Convention Center will ensure success for the hotel portion of the project, while the majority-residential component will ride the wave of downtown's booming residential market. An amazing project from sidewalk to rooftop, Trango Tower is by far one of the most ambitious projects to have ever been proposed in downtown Denver.

From its conception, Trango Tower was envisioned by developer W. Scott Moore to be a multi-use project, with square footage dedicated to commercial, residential and hotel components. Although these three distinct uses are present in the building, a majority of the tower's space is devoted to residential use.

With close proximity to the soon-to-be-expanded Colorado Convention Center, Trango Tower's hotel portion would benefit significantly from tourists and convention-goers. What's more, downtown Denver is in the midst of a residential renaissance, and a majority of the project's space has been allocated for residential use.

Ground Floor
The ground floor functions are organized around a four story atrium surrounded by hign end retail boutiques, services, and amenities. Nestled into the shopping area are separate and distinct lobbies for the hotel, office, and condominium spaces. Through the use of these clearly defined ciruclation zones, the building can maintain secure and controlled access for its occupants.

Floors 2-17
Continuing upward from the retail are the condominium parking levels followed by executive office lease space.

Floors 18-19
Above the office levels are the primary hotel lobbies. Situated well above the tops of the surrounding buildings these floors provide unimpeded views of the surrounding mountain range and of the Denver area.

Floors 20-34
On these floors will be located Trango's hotel rooms, possibly operated by The Ritz-Carlton or the Four Seasons Hotel. Each floor will contain 23 hotel rooms.

35th floor
At the 35th level there is a sky terrace floor that incorporates health spa/club and fitness facilities with the opportunity for outdoor use as well as the traditional indoor activities.

Floors 36-81
Above the hotel levels are the luxury condominium floors. Each condominium unit will possess unique views, arrangements and fenestrations possibilities.

Floor 82
The top of the tower will house a world class restaurant with an astounding 360 degree view of the Denver area.
